UN General Assembly releases agenda including two issues on Azerbaijan

The 63rd session of the General Assembly will open on 16 September 2008 and the general debate will take place from 23 September to 1st October 2008.

There are two issues related to Azerbaijan included into the agenda. They are Item 13 – Protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development (Resolution 62/249) and Item 16 – the situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan (Resolution 62/243).

According to the preliminary list, Presidents of Brazil, the United States, France, Serbia, Argentina, Gabon, Iran, Georgia and Lithuania will address the General Assembly on September 23.

Ukraine’s President will take the floor on September 24, Tajikistan’s on September 25, Kyrgyzstan’s on September 26 and Russian Foreign Minister on September 29.

The agenda of the 63rd session includes more than 160 issues on peace, security, fighting terrorism, human rights, environmental protection, social and economic development etc.

Azerbaijani, Turkish and Armenian Foreign Minister will meet on the sidelines of the session.
Besides, GUAM Foreign Ministers Council will meet within the framework of the 63rd session.[/left]
