Matthew Bryza: Armenian and Turkish presidents accepted great political risk

“Armenian and Turkish presidents accepted great political risk and showed courage”, OSCE Minsk Group’s US Co-Chair Matthew Bryza told journalists in Khankendi, APA reports quoting News Armenia agency.

He called the Turkey’s initiative to establish Caucasian Stability and Cooperation Platform as a constructive step. “I welcome improvement of relations between Armenia and Turkey. I think changing situation in this direction makes the climate healthy and it means that Armenia can be more frankly in the negotiations. May be I am mistaken, but I hope for that”.

Bryza emphasized that Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be solved within the basic principles. He said he had very constructive and interesting meeting with the leader of Nagorno Karabakh Armenians Bako Saakyan. “I got opportunity at the meeting to learn opinion of Karabakh side on the process of conflict solution, regional situation and other topical issues. We discussed the versions of strengthening relations between the peoples participated in the process of solution”.
