Negroponte stated that the US reproved its initiative on strengthening fraternal relations between states.

American and Azerbaijani soldiers serve in Afghanistan and Iraq shoulder to shoulder. The US will continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan on security, as well as within the framework of NATO Partnership for Peace (PfP),” he said.

“Our cooperation covering Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and South Caucasus gas pipelines more deepens while we focus on Turkey-Greece-Italy and Nabucco pipelines”, he said.
Mr. John touched upon the conflict occurred between Russia and Georgia.

“We should not rehabilitate Russia’s military intervention into Georgia. We call Russia to observe cease-fire agreement gained by mediation of French President. We have announced that we recognized territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. The US wants peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict in such condition. We support the sides are coordinated basing on territorial integrity and international principles. The solution to the conflict will strengthen security of Azerbaijan, as well as peace and stability in the region,” he said.

Mr. John added that he had negotiated with Azerbaijani President and Foreign Minister and supported close participation of Azerbaijan in peacekeeping process in Afghanistan.
