On December 26, 2010, “Human Rights in the XXI century-Azerbaijan” Foundation organized a cultural event entitled “Human Rights Night”. The cultural event was organized in the frame of the project “Let’s Create Social Inclusion Opportunities for Young Orphans” which is funded by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe and implemented by the “Human Rights in the XXI century-Azerbaijan” Foundation. The aim of the event “Human Rights Night” was to inform the 20 young people already involved in the project and the teachers` staff of the Orphanage School Number 2, situated in Mardakan village, Khazar district of Baku city, about different matters concerning human rights, “European Social Charter”, international experience on the protection of human rights in Europe, as well as, about projects implemented in Azerbaijan in the field of human rights and various activities which were fulfilled by the government. Shahin Jamalov, the president of “Human Rights XXI century – Azerbaijan” Foundation, opened the event with his introductory speech. Mr. Jamalov stressed out that, implementation of the project increases the level of the knowledge of young people on human rights and this would be important for them in their future independent life. He also stressed the European youth’s effort to learn their rights, their ability to restore their violated rights and gave an example from European experience about established various rights and opportunities for young people by the government. He also noted that the activity of enlightenment for young people on human and social rights will be carried out in the future as well. Agshin Asgarov, the employee of the Foundation also informed comprehensively about the “European Social Charter” and also gave an example from national experience and notified the participants about adopted laws in the field of human rights and implemented projects.
