The society “For Democratic Reforms” held a Baku-Ceyhan-Tbilisi (BTC) pipeline monitoring project presentation in the International press-center on 14 September. The project that commenced on 1 August is sponsored by the Dutch OXFAM/NOVIB. This one-year project includes international and local scope surveys and the establishment of links. The monitors who will work in the course of the project implementation on sites will be assisted in report making. 60 local communities’ representative will undergo training and provided every condition for a successful work.
The lawyer of the “Human Rights in the XXI Century – Azerbaijan” Foundation Nazir Guliyev attended the presentation among the other country NGO representatives. The event participants supported the idea of the significance of conducting a monitoring and of keeping the process transparent. Our representative voiced an opinion concerning the protection of the labor rights of the pipeline construction and maintenance workers in view of the frequent violations of such rights.
