Azerbaijan to define upper limit of annual donations one person can make to one or several parties

The Azerbaijani Parliament’s committees on legal policy and state building and social policy have today discussed a set of amendments and annexes to the law “On political parties”.

 

Chairman of the Committee of Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynli gave information about the project, APA reports.

 

According to the amendment made to the article 12-1.1.2 of the law, the phrase “the financial report to the relevant executive authority each year” will be replaced with the phrase “the financial report envisaged in article 21.2 and data and documents envisaged in article 21.4-1 of the law to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

Furthermore, a new article 18-1 will be added to the law. According to the new article, membership fee is an amount of money that is regularly paid by members of a political party. The amount of membership fee is defined by the regulations of the political party and additional payments are considered to be donations.

 

Another new article 19.7 says the upper limit of donations a person can make to one or several parties during a year can not exceed AZN 10,000.

 

The draft has been recommended to the parliament’s plenary meeting.
