Azerbaijan took over the presidency of the CIS Council on industrial security from Belarus, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan reported Sept.16.
The XII meeting of the Interstate CIS Council on industrial security, organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan on the initiative of the CIS Executive Committee began to work in Nakhchivan Sept.16, according to the message.
The event was attended by representatives of the relevant structures of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Moldova and Tajikistan.
The Minister for Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Lieutenant-General Shamy Abdullayev informed the participating sides on the Nakhchivan Republic.
Azerbaijani deputy minister Orujali Hajiyev noted that the prevention and prediction of man-caused disasters is important, adding that close cooperation of the CIS countries, the exchange of experience will play an important role in a number of issues.
“The purpose of this meeting is the cooperation in the field of industrial security on the facilities with hazardous production,” Hajiyev said.
Adviser of the Department for Security Cooperation of CIS Executive Committee Sergei Mihnovich read out a letter of CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev.
Then the transition of the presidency of the Council from Belarus to Azerbaijan was announced.
Further, there was an exchange of views and experience on the results of last year’s activities, implementation of control and preventive checks at the complex and facilities with hazardous production of oil and gas industry.
