UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband appreciates Azerbaijan’s role in the region

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, who is visiting London, met with David Miliband, Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom.

Press service of Foreign Ministry told APA that they exchanged views on the prospects of the bilateral relations. The sides expressed their satisfaction with the development of political, economic, cultural relations and discussed regional issues. Elmar Mammadyarov underlined the importance of the Platform for Security and Cooperation in the Caucasus initiated by Turkey.

David Miliband touched on energy issues, European Union’s activity in this field, appreciated Azerbaijan’s role in the region and expressed his gratitude for the conditions created for British companies in Azerbaijan. Elmar Mammadyarov briefed about Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and noted that the conflict could be solved only within the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
