“European Court of Human Rights considered 14 appeals on Azerbaijan in 2002-2008,” Ramiz Rzayev, Chairman of the Supreme Court said at today’s press conference, APA reports.

To him, the number is not big in comparison with other countries.
“Several media organizations do not cover European Court’s work process correctly. I want to inform that European Court does not consider the essence of the case, but the procedure and passes a decision on it. European Court cannot punish any country as it was reported in several media organizations,” he said.
Rzayev commented on European Court’s decisions on Azerbaijani appeals on quarrels because of flats.
“The right of property is protected by law very seriously. It is natural that several owners appealed to the courts on the fact that their houses have been possessed by IDPs. Problems of several IDPs living in these houses have been solved. The State Program covers the problems of the rest. It was instructed that the buildings should be constructed in Baku and Sumgait for settlement of people. State Committee on Work with refugees and IDPs was given a task to execute the process,” he said.
