Next meeting of GUAM PA to be held in Baku

The next meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development – GUAM will be held in Baku in December, GUAM secretariat told Trend November 2.

 

According to the message, the agenda of the meeting includes the discussion of the integration processes of the GUAM member-states into Europe, namely, cooperation within the Eastern Partnership program; the role of multilateral parliamentary cooperation in ensuring regional and international security, the role of regional and international parliamentary organizations in the development of interregional cooperation, energy potential of GUAM area and others.

 

The timing of the meeting is being agreed, the GUAM secretariat said.

 

According to the message, the delegations of GUAM’s member-states, namely, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine will attend the meeting.

 

The representatives of the Baltic Assembly, the Visegrad Group member-states and TurkPA representatives will also attend the meeting as guests, the message said.

 

The GUAM was created by post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the summit of heads of states of the European Union in Strasbourg.
