International Training Center for Mine Safety to be established in Azerbaijan

International Training Center for Mine Safety will be established in Azerbaijan with the support of the UN Development Program, Director of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Nazim Ismayilov told APA.

He said that sappers from other countries will also train in the center at the invitation of the UN Development Program. Ismayilov said that foreign sappers will train in the teaching base of ANAMA in Goygol region and added that 8 sappers from Tajikistan and 10 from Afghanistan will train in Azerbaijan for several months. He also said Georgian sappers will soon arrive in Azerbaijan. Ismayilov said the UNDP will hold tender to assess the potential of sappers in Azerbaijan.

UN resident-coordinator to Azerbaijan Bruno Pouezat said the UNDP highly appreciates the work done by Azerbaijan to clear mines and will promote the center so that foreign sappers can train in Azerbaijan.
