International conference opens at Heydar Aliyev Center

An international conference kicked off at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku bringing together more than 300 experts from over 50 countries in Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia to exchange views on congenital heart diseases Nov. 20.

 

Held under Children’s Hearts Beat in Azerbaijan motto, the three-day conference marks the Universal Children’s Day.

 

It is organized by the Azerbaijan Heart and Health Association in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Heydar Aliyev Center.

 

Opening the event, first deputy Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Adil Karimli said the conference demonstrated the Azerbaijani government’s commitment to the global initiative of the United Nations to advocate the right to health as one of the core rights of children.

 

Karimli highlighted the government’s measures to improve healthcare, and lauded the role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on this.

 

“The conference will also provide a good opportunity for the participants to familiarize themselves with the achievements of Azerbaijan,” Deputy Health Minister Elsavar Aghayev said.

 

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Heart and Health Association Rashad Mahmudov hailed the importance of the conference, saying it will stimulate the application of world class system of diagnostics and treatment of congenital heart diseases.

 

Participants watched a film on congenital heart diseases as part of the Heydar Aliyev Center’s activities to support health-related projects.

 

The conference will present the cutting-edge novelties in diagnostics and treatment of congenital heart diseases and provide a forum for discussing the most recent accomplishments in scientific and technological research.

 

Along with expert reports, the conference will also feature clinic courses, live surgeries and video presentations.

 

The conference aims to encourage measures to prevent congenital heart diseases in Azerbaijan, promote early diagnostics and world class treatment standards in the country, and provide enabling environment for the experts to address the issue through joint and concerted efforts.
