PACE summer session discussed activity of International Committee of the Red Cross in plenary meeting on June 26, APA Europe bureau reports. Member of Azerbaijani Delegation to PACE Ganira Pashayeva addressed the meeting attended by Jakob Kellenberger, President of ICRC. She noted that 4264 missing Azerbaijanis as a result of occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia were registered in Azerbaijani State Committee in 1993.

“1396 Azerbaijanis have been released from Armenian captivity. ICRC has mediated in release of them. Unfortunately, these persons have health problems, because of their detention condition. I can present photos on tortures undergone by Azerbaijani women and children in Armenia”, she said. Pashayeva mentioned that international organizations proposed to establish direct relations between Azerbaijani and Armenian State Committees and hold meetings for the purpose of increase of efficiency of searching missing and captives. Official Baku had meeting with Armenian side in Tbilisi in 2005 and in Brussels in 2006.

“Unfortunately, after these meetings, Armenian side’s behaviors with captured Azerbaijanis have not changed. Armenian intelligences involve captives in secret cooperation. We consider that these actions are against international legal norms and Human Rights and refusal on humanitarian cooperation”, she said. Pashayeva added that she had classmates among missing and captives.“It is very tragic to find answer for question of captive’s mother asked when my child will be released. We call on all members of the assembly to take all measures to release these persons from the captivity”, she said.
