Baku hosts discussions on refugees’ social problems

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, Chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov received US Chargé d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Dereck Hogan and the USAID Mission Director Brooke Isham.

 

The State Committee for Refugees and IDPs told Trend Oct. 15 that the meeting focused on the problems of the persons who became refugees and IDPs as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

 

The parties also discussed the improvement of the refugees’ and the IDPs’ living conditions.

 

It was noted at the meeting that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the US is being built upon a good foundation.

 

During the meeting, Hasanov expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian aid rendered to refugees and IDPs, as well as for humanitarian projects realized by the US humanitarian organizations and the US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

 

Dereck Hogan, for his part, said special attention is constantly being attached to the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the improvement of the living conditions of refugees and IDPs.

 

He also praised the rapid economic growth in Azerbaijan, and the work to improve the social conditions of refugees and IDPs.

 

The meeting also reviewed other issues of mutual interest.
