The 45th meeting of the Legal and Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PA BSEC) has kicked off in Milli Majlis.
Delivering a keynote speech, Chairman of the Committee Mikhail Emelyanov hailed the rapid development of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Vice-Speaker Valeh Alasgarov addressing the event highlighted the activities of BSEC, relations between the member countries, as well as the opportunities for further cooperation. He said that Azerbaijan has close political, economic relations with all BSEC member countries. This relationship based on equal partnership and cooperation. Stressing the important role of Azerbaijan in region and in the whole world, Mr. Alasgarov hailed economic relations with various countries. If Turkey has invested in Azerbaijan in the past, now Azerbaijan is investing billions of dollars in Turkey. Today Azerbaijan is Georgia’s main energy supplier, he added.
Alaskarov gave detailed information about the achievements in the field of energy, large-scale projects being realized in the country.
He noted that a new project that carries Azerbaijani gas to Europe will be part of the works to be done.
The meeting will elect a new chairman of the committee, determine the date and place of the next meeting, approve the agenda, as well as hear reports on election codes of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization member countries, the similarities and differences in this area, strengthening the status of the Parliamentary Assembly and discuss other issues on the agenda.
