Azerbaijan’s Naval Forces and Air Forces have started large-scale joint operational-tactical exercises.
In accordance with an operational readiness plan, the exercises were launched on November 13 with the participation of the Naval Forces in full squad, units and subunits of the Air Forces and the Air Defense Troops, as well as the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the State Border Service, under the supervision of Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and First Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of General Staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Colonel General Nejmeddin Sadigov.
The Defense Ministry told APA that more than 5,000 personnel, up to 40 warships and boats, 58 artillery and missile launchers, about 20 warplanes and helicopters of the Air Forces, up to 50 different means of air defense as well as special purpose forces of the Air Defense Troops were involved in the exercises to execute training-combat tasks.
The exercises are being conduced in three stages.
In the active phase live firing will be conducted with all kinds of means used during the exercises.
The exercises will continue till November 17.
