“Azerbaijan-Germany relations are developing very dynamically.

The number of visits from Germany to Azerbaijan has increased recently and it indicates the development of economic, cultural and tourism relations. German companies are interested in establishing business in Azerbaijan,” Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in Germany Otto Hauser told APA.

According to him, the Eurovision song contest hosted by Azerbaijan last year has played an important role in promotion of Azerbaijan in Europe: “In terms of economy, Germany sees Azerbaijan as an important energy partner. Azerbaijan is in 6th place among oil-exporting countries to Germany. It means that the economic interests of both countries are interconnected and the relations are developing.”

Otto Hauser also touched on the Nagorno Karabakh problem: “The position of German Government is that Nagorno Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan, Armenian armed units that occupied the Azerbaijani territories must be immediately withdrawn from those lands and about a million Azerbaijani IDPs must have the right to return to their homeland. This is the unique position of the German Government. ”

The Honorary Consul said he regrets the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group has not produced results: “I think that the European Parliament should participate more actively in the solution of this problem. Unfortunately, France does not have mandate to represent the European Union in the Minsk Group. Therefore, the European Commission should intervene in this issue. Europe is obliged to contribute to Azerbaijan in the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, as Azerbaijan is an important energy partner for Europe. Azerbaijan supplies Europe with oil and will supply with gas in future. In this case, we will decrease energy dependence on Russia. Azerbaijan exports its resources to Europe, the strategy has already been established in this regard. I consider that Azerbaijani interests in these relations should also be protected and Europe should help Azerbaijan in the resolution of this conflict.
