A delegation led by Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov will visit Istanbul on Jan. 20 to take part in the 10th session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states (PUIC), APA reports.
The delegation includes head of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Administration Safa Mirzayev, MPs Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, Mirkazim Kazimov, Sabir Rustamkhanli and others, Parliament spokesman Akif Tevekkuloglu told APA.
During the session, the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Parliamentary Union will be ratified, and the documents of the organization’s specialized committees and a number of organizational issues will be discussed.
Ogtay Asadov will make a speech in the session.
As part of the session, the Azerbaijani MPs will join the meetings of the organization’s committees on political affairs and foreign relations, economic affairs and environment, human rights, women and family affairs, cultural and judicial affairs, civilizations, and inter-religious dialogue.
During the session, there will be discussions on the subject “Response to the 21st century’s problems: global peace, stability, and security”, on the Armenian invasion of Azerbaijani territories, counterterrorism, simplification of visa-related issues, increasing trade turnovers, preservation of Islamic cultural heritage among Islamic states, etc.
Ogtay Asadov is scheduled to meet with heads of the delegations to participate in the session.
