Acting Speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has met Azerbaijani Ambassador Dashgin Shikarov to explore ways of developing the bilateral cooperation.
Javed Abbasi said both countries had huge economic potential which needs to be exploited for mutual benefit. He said great investment opportunities existed in Pakistan especially in energy, industrial, technological and infrastructure sectors.
The Acting Speaker of the Pakistani National Assembly said the first meeting of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan interparliamentary friendship group will be held at the Pakistani Parliament this April.
Ambassador Shikarov provided an insight into the history and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He praised Pakistan`s backing Azerbaijan`s position on the dispute, particularly resolutions by the parliament recognizing Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and the Khojaly genocide.
The Pakistani Speaker reiterated his country`s support of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying Pakistan will not recognize Armenia until the occupied Azerbaijani territories are liberated.
