Armenian armed forces have broken ceasefire with Azerbaijan 41 times in numerous positions within 24 hours, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said on Nov.26.

Armenian armed forces, located in the village of Mosesgekh of Armenia’s Berd district, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the village of Alibeyli of the Tovuz district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located near the villages of Shikhlar, Shuraabad, Yusifjanli, Merzili, Javahirli, Sarijali of the Aghdam district, Kuropatkino of the Khojavend district, Horadiz, Gorgan, Qarakhanbayli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Veyselli of the Fizuli district, Mehdili of the Jabrayil district.

Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located at the nameless heights of the Fizuli and Khojavend districts.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan.

As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
