“At present, Latvia and Azerbaijan have a strong base of cooperation, both countries have reached a certain level of development and have good prospects to move ahead,” said President of Latvia Andris Bērziņš, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, in his interview with APA.
Andris Bērziņš said that Latvia is interested in enhancing the relations with Azerbaijan in all spheres including education and culture: “We need to develop these spheres. Business will find its path. Although so far the numbers are, mildly speaking, moderate, I think that in a few years they will be higher. Everything is in our hands.”
Latvian President noted that as a member of the European Union his country could support Azerbaijan’s integration into Europe.
“As a member of the European Union we can be a bridge in the relations of Azerbaijan with this institution. There are historical relations and language opportunities between our countries, people-to-people relations have been established. We equally realize most issues and this is very good,” he said.
According to Andris Bērziņš, once Latvia mastered European values and is ready to share with Azerbaijan its experience in various spheres. He noted that he had very positive impressions regarding his visit to Azerbaijan.
“Of course, one can express views on the outcomes of the visit after a while. For now I can speak only about my impressions. These impressions are very good. The delegation that includes about 80 businessmen and four university rectors speaks for itself. I think that the results to be achieved will be good,” he said.
