A conference is held in Baku on the topic of “The role of reforms held in Azerbaijan law enforcements and armed forces for integration to Euro-Atlantic space”

On June 16 the conference on the topic of “The role of reforms held in Azerbaijan law enforcements and armed forces for integration to Euro-Atlantic space” was launched in Baku within NATO week. The two-day conference was organized by the Confederation of Azerbaijan Lawyers and Association of Eurasian Lawyers with the support of the embassy of Turkey and NATO.

The chairman of law policy and state building committee of National Assembly Ali Huseynov has stated that, “this year 15 years completed after Azerbaijan had joined the program of NATO “Collaboration for Peace” At the elapsed time, Azerbaijan has not only taken active parts in the events of NATO, but also has implemented much work on personal programs within this program. Within the Operation Plan of Personal Corporation of NATO up to 250 events will be organized.

The ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilich has stressed out that, security in South Caucasus and Caspian Sea regions is the component of external policy of his country. While speaking about the role of Turkey in conforming Azerbaijan Armed Forces to the standards of NATO, the diplomat has stressed the adoption of Military Doctrine will help forward this process. H. Kilich notified that adoption of Military Doctrine in Azerbaijan is very essential for the standards of NATO and Turkey supports Azerbaijan in democratization and integration to Euro-Atlantic space. The ambassador said that even in the OPPC which he confirmed in order to help along the cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, armed forces` being under the control of civil body boosts up rationality of army and enables to function within fixed principal obligations, as it is contemplated.

Zbiqnev Rıbatski who is the officer of NATO for South Caucasus stressed out active participation of Azerbaijan in the OPPC and notified that under this plan preparation process of strategical documentation is going in our country. In this context special care is taken of military education, preparation of personnel and management issues in Azerbaijan.

The ambassador of Romania in Azerbaijan Nikolaye Ureke pointed out that, Romania which has assumed connective state mission between Azerbaijan and NATO in January of the current year and its core obligation is to bring Baku nearer to North Atlantic Alliance. In modern conditions, security does not solely depend on military indications, terrorists` learning creation technologies of weapons of annihilation, smuggling of heroin into the country, illegal migration etc. are one of the core threats.

In the main part of the conference held on June 17, there will be lectures on The Ministry of National Security, State Border`s Service, Armed Force, corporation of Internal Army with NATO.
