Deputy Chairwoman of the Azerbaijani parliament, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE PA Bahar Muradova has responded to the groundless claims of Armenian MP Artashes Gegamyan at a meeting of the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security held as part of the 23rd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Baku.
In his speech, the Armenian MP described Nagorno-Karabakh as an “independent state” and Yerevan as a “historical land” of Armenia.
Responding to the Armenian MP, Bahar Muradova said “our colleagues visiting Nagorno-Karabakh, see the region’s condition, and observe the condition of very poor population, living on low standards and devoid of all the opportunities”.
She noted that there was no such a nation like the “people of Nagorno-Karabakh”.
“Only Armenians live in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories, and Azerbaijan is very concerned over their current condition, as they have become the hostage of the idea of “Great Armenia”. Armenians do not want to hear any truth on Nagorno-Karabakh.”
She specially noted that the city of Yerevan was a historical Azerbaijani land.
“Under the first decree of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), the city of Irevan was given to Armenians in the early 20th century pressed by neighboring countries. We will not allow creating a second Armenian state on Azerbaijani lands. And let all know this,” Muradova added.
