“Azerbaijan has earned a great reputation in the international arena, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Oct. 29 addressing the First Global Forum on Youth Policies in Baku, APA reports.
The head of state said Azerbaijan has defended the international law as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“Today we’re seeing tragic events and changes in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and other parts of the world. Therefore, the world community should jointly fight against terrorism, separatism and take a fair position”, he said.
The president said the world accepts Azerbaijan as a factor of stability in the region, adding that numerous projects are being implemented in the region on the initiative and with the participation of Azerbaijan.
“Development is impossible without stability. We don’t live on an isolated island and we have neighbors. We take an approach toward regional security and cooperation from this point of view. We have achieved great success on account of joint cooperation.
Each party benefited from partnership on the projects on energy resources.
During the times Azerbaijan gained independence, the country’s economy collapsed and lands were occupied. Over the past period, Azerbaijan carried out economic reforms which resulted in economic growth and stability. Economic success enabled our country to ensure economic and political independence. Many countries are also politically dependent because of their economic dependence”, President Aliyev added.
