Vote count of the November 4 presidential elections in the United States was officially completed.

The win still leaves McCain far behind Obama, the Democratic senator from Illinois, in the electoral-college count, 365-173. Republican John McCain has been declared the winner of Missouri’s popular vote and of its 11 electoral votes, APA reports quoting the world news agencies.
The final tally showed the Arizona senator with a 3632-vote margin over President-elect Barack Obama out of 2.89 million cast. On December 15, electors of the Electoral College will cast votes for the presidential nominee they supported and then the elections results will be approved by the two chambers of the US Congress on January 6, 2009.
Obama is scheduled to take office on Jan. 20.
Electoral College votes are cast by individual states by a group of electors and each elector casts one Electoral College vote. In modern times, with electors usually committed to vote for a party candidate in advance, electors that vote against the popular vote in their state are called faithless electors, and occurrences are rare. State law regulates how states cast their Electoral College votes. The candidates need at least in 270 votes of Electoral College to win the elections.
