Vladimir Putin: Azerbaijan and Russia have the highest economic growth rate in CIS

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin in Moscow. APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS agency that Vladimir Putin highly appreciated political and economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

He mentioned that both countries had the highest economic growth rate in CIS.
“Economic growth rate in Azerbaijan has made up 18 percent, economic growth rate in Russia made up 8 percent in the first half of the year. These indicators are the elements of stability and we should make use of it,” he said.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said his country highly appreciated the relations with Russia.
“Our relations are not only of political character, these are also sincere relations. I hope we will increase our achievements in future. Trade turnover between our countries increases on average 50 percent every year. Azerbaijan’s economic power is also strengthening simultaneously,” he said.

Ilham Aliyev also said that budget expenses had been increased in Azerbaijan by 15 times.

Vladimir Putin appreciated Azerbaijan’s economic achievements and development of bilateral relations.
“Interstate relations are developing rapidly and I should appreciate this process. I am very glad to greet you. It is very good that you have not forgotten your old friends,” he said.
