Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov paid a two day visit to Azerbaijan on April 2.
During the visit Meredov will meet with the country’s leadership, including Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.
The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $88.15 million in 2013. More than half of this volume falls to the import of Turkmen production to Azerbaijan. Its volume in this period amounted to $48.3 million. The exports from Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan amounted to $39.85 million, the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said today.
Two Caspian countries are also interested in the use of alternative routes for supplying the energy resources of the Caspian region to Europe. The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan is considered as one of important projects. It can be part of the large-scale projects of the Southern Energy Corridor.
