Turkish Energy Ministry: Works for resuming gas transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline are underway

“Gas transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline has not been restored yet due to explosion in Kars”, official of Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said.

 

“Gas transportation was immediately suspended when the explosion occurred. Currently, the works for resuming gas transportation are underway (Baku time – 3:50p.m.)”, the official said.

 

The spokesman noted that it’s hard to say when the gas transportation will resume.

 

BOTAS told APA-Economics that the Board Meeting is still being held.

 

Earlier, SOCAR spokesperson Nizameddin Guliyev noted that BOTAS regularly informs SOCAR: “The details of the event are currently being investigated. BOTAS says the repair works can take some days”.

 

PKK terrorists committed an explosion on the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline in the area of the village Sarikamis of Kars province, Turkey.

 

Governor of the province of Kars Gunay Ozdemir said that the explosion was committed in an attack by PKK terrorists.

 

“The explosion occurred as a result of a terrorist attack. Because of the strong fire to get closer to the scene has not been possible yet. Measures are taken to extinguish the fire, “said Ozdemir. According to him, the Gas supply through the pipeline has been suspended.

 

On August 4, an explosion was committed in the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline.
