Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov received Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Army General Necdet Ozel, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
A meeting was held in the presence of the delegations after Necdet Ozel signed the Book of Honor in accordance of the official protocol.
Zakir Hasanov noted that Azerbaijan and Turkey cooperate in military sphere within the NATO-led peacekeeping operations, this strategic partnership was established based on fraternity, is developing and will be lasting.
Touching upon the military and political situation in the region, the minister noted that Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict poses a threat to the regional stability and it is important to resolve this conflict in accordance with international legal norms.
In his turn, Necdet Ozel underlined that our relations are based on the historical roots and friendship and Turkey is an important partner for Azerbaijan.
They also exchanged views on the prospects of relations between Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces and issues of mutual interest.
At the end of the meeting, under Hasanov’s order, Army General Necdet Ozel was awarded the medal “For merits in military cooperation” of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun also attended the meeting.
