Reception entitled ”SOCAR – Energy of Azerbaijan” was held in Davos yesterday.
APA-Economics reports quoting AzerTAc agency that it is the third time that the event is organized as a part of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The aim is to promote Azerbaijan in the world and present the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan to the business world. Billboards and banners have been installed in Davos as a part of the event.
The reception, which started with screening of video “Azerbaijan – the country of the future”, was attended by about 1000 guests. Addressing the reception, president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev said SOCAR, a strategic partner of Davos Forum, had already become a global company. Speaking about the ongoing rapid development processes in Azerbaijan, Rovnag Abdullayev said Azerbaijan, which has a system of diversified oil and gas pipelines, is exporting oil and gas to more than 30 countries and playing an important role in Europe’s energy security. Shah Deniz 2 contract signed in Baku at the end of last year proves it once more.
Gunther Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Energy, spoke about the history of Azerbaijan’s oil industry, underlined Azerbaijan’s important role in delivering Caspian hydrocarbon resources to the world market. Gunther Oettinger underlined the importance of the 1st European Games to be held in Azerbaijan in 2015.
Government representatives of a number of countries, leading media chiefs, business representatives attended the reception.
