Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the reports that Russia supplied Armenia with arms had not been confirmed, APA reports.
The minister told the press conference in Moscow that the reports of Azerbaijani media that Russia supplied Armenia with arms had been investigated and the reports were not confirmed.
Asked about the cooperation of Russia and the US in missile defense field, Lavrov said Moscow hopes that the President-elect Barack Obama would discuss the idea of establishing Russia-US-Europe missile defense system.
“We know that Barack Obama wants to pause on this issue. This is not only connected with the financial crisis. He wants to analyse the efficiency and expenses of the project,” he said.
Sergei Lavrov hopes that while analyzing this issue Barack Obama will pay attention to the proposal made by Russia in spring, 2007.
