Russia will leave the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty, if Ukraine and Georgia are admitted to NATO, a government official told Interfax, APA reports.
Commenting on NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer’s statement that two countries would be admitted to NATO, the official said it was clear that he had meant Ukraine and Georgia.
“How can one speak of limitations in the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty, when NATO is decisively expanding in the post-Soviet area?! In this case arms control regime in Europe will collapse,” he said.

Russia imposed moratorium on the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty in December, 2007.
