Presidents of Azerbaijan and Croatia hold expanded meeting

Following their private talk, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Ivo Josipovic of Croatia have been joined by their countries` delegations for an expanded meeting.

President Josipovic said relations between Azerbaijan and Croatia were developing successfully, adding that good potential exists for development of bilateral economic cooperation.

Mr. Josipovic underlined the necessity of expanding the relationship in energy, cultural, tourism and other fields with Azerbaijan.

The Croatian leader pointed out his country supports settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of norms of international law.

Mr. Josipovic also recalled his visit to Azerbaijan which he said has ancient history and rich culture.

President Ilham Aliyev called political and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Croatia active, underscoring the importance of expanding economic ties and defining new areas of cooperation.

The Azerbaijani President noted his country plays important role in energy security of Europe.

The Head of State stressed the importance of cooperation with Croatia in energy field.

President Ilham Aliyev also spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that Armenia continues its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan and demonstrates non-constructive position not honoring norms of international law.

During the meeting the sides also discussed questions related to mutual investment.

The sides also discussed prospects for relations in transport, cultural and tourism areas, development of cooperation, and implementation of new projects.

They also expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to develop.
