A ceremony has today taken place to present President Ilham Aliyev with first biometric passport of the Azerbaijani citizen.
The last few years saw the government of Azerbaijan carry out considerable and effective work to ensure rapid economic development, improve the living standard and ensure people’s social security, and remove bureaucratic barriers in public agencies. In this context, establishment of ASAN service, an innovative new agency aiming to make services more accessible for citizens, and application of other advanced services has been of critical importance. Introduction of a biometric passport is one of such significant steps.
A special task force was set up to deal with the making and introduction of a biometric passport using best experience of related foreign companies.
Citizens can receive biometric passports in ten, five and one working days depending on the size of a fee.
