Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar will arrive in our country in the coming weeks, USA Charge d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling told journalists on Sunday.
The diplomat did not specify Morningstar’s specific arrival date, adding that on Friday of this week secretary of State Hillary Clinton will officially swear him in to office in Washington.
The U.S. Senate has confirmed Richard Morningstar as ambassador to Azerbaijan on June 30.
Earlier President Barack Obama nominated Richard L. Morningstar to be the next ambassador to Baku.
The United States has not had an ambassador in Baku since the departure of Matthew J. Bryza in December 2011.
