Moldova to participate in Eastern Partnership economy ministers’ meeting in Baku

Minister of Economy of Moldova Adrian Candu will represent the country at an informal meeting of Ministers of Economy and Energy of the countries participating in the EU’s Eastern Partnership program to be held in Baku Sept. 9, Moldovan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Igor Bodiu told Trend Aug. 29.

 

Earlier, Azerbaijan initiated the meetings of the Foreign Ministers and Ministers of Economy and Energy of the countries participating in the EU “Eastern Partnership” program in Baku.

 

The EU Eastern Partnership, covering six countries, including Azerbaijan, is an initiative of Poland and Sweden. It is aimed at improving relations with the CIS countries as part of the European Neighborhood Policy.

 

Azerbaijan and Moldova are strategic partners. Two countries are cooperating at the bilateral and regional international levels.

 

“Moldova’s trading house in Azerbaijan” LLC has been operating since 2008.

 

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Moldova amounted to $3,204,950 or by 1.67 percent more compared to the same period of last year. Around 99.96 percent of turnover accounted for imports, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
