Azerbaijani President noted that there is no problem at a political level between the countries. “We actively cooperate and support each other in international organizations. Of course, we strive to ensure that the communication in all areas correspond to the level of our political relations. First of all I would like to mention the economic sphere. Despite the fact that in recent years in the economic sphere, there is great progress, turnover still cannot satisfy us. I believe that together we should achieve growth of trade turnover. There are possibilities for this. The upcoming business forum today should make a contribution to the development of relations between business entities. I think, we should consider the investment projects in the economic sphere. There are preliminary proposals. I want to say that Azerbaijan has already started to invest in foreign markets. It has already produced nice results. We must work on specific projects in order to increase turnover.
The Head of the State said that at the same time additional opportunities can be set up for expansion of Latvian companies in Azerbaijan. I believe that these features can be presented in the business forum. In recent years, Azerbaijan has seen great development, implemented a number of projects. Of course, we would like Latvian companies to work more actively in Azerbaijan as contractors.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed that Azerbaijan became a partner country to the European Union in terms of energy security and in the coming years, cooperation with the European Union in this area can rise to a new stage. At the same time there are good opportunities to address energy issues in the bilateral format.
President also spoke about the establishment of transport infrastructure and cooperation in the field of transport. “As a result of realization of these projects, the issues of regional cooperation can be resolved in a broad sense. Relations between the countries of the Caspian, Black and Baltic Seas largely depend on the transport infrastructure. For its part, Azerbaijan works on solution of these issues. Huge transportation projects, carried out by our initiative, are bearing fruit”, said Ilham Aliyev.
