International Organization for Migration chief meets Azerbaijani IDPs

Director General of the International Organization for Migration William Lacy Swing has visited a residential area for 760 families of internally displaced persons in the village of Masazir, Absheron district, Azerbaijan.

 

He viewed living conditions of the IDPs. Jeyhun Hasanov, an IDP from Zangilan, told Mr Lacy Swing that the Azerbaijani government fully cares about the displaced citizens and takes necessary measures to address their problems. “However, every IDP is living with the dream of returning home,” Hasanov said.

 

Mr Lacy Swing was briefed on the government`s policy to improve housing and living conditions of refugees and IDPs. He was told that state-of-the-art towns and residential areas with all the social and technical infrastructure have been built for 240,000 refugees and IDPs in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan over recent years.
