An international conference entitled “Islamic enlightenment and modernity” kicked off in Baku on Thursday.
Government representatives, well-known scientists and religious leaders from Turkey, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Finland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and members of the Christian and Jewish communities in Azerbaijan are attending the conference, co-organized by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Caucasus Muslim Office and the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.
The conference will focus on the significance of the Islamic enlightenment in a globalized world, multiculturalism, interreligious dialogue and others issues.
