Interior Ministry prepares special plan of measures on the eve of referendum in Azerbaijan

The Interior Ministry prepared a special plan of measures on the eve of referendum on March 18 in Azerbaijan.

Interior Minister Ramil Ussubov approved the plan of measures prepared for the security and insure of public order on the day of national voting, press officer of the Interior Ministry Sadig Gozalov told APA. According to the plan of measures, all bodies and units of the Interior Ministry will pass to the special working regime from March 17 to 20.
Gozalov said specification of the voters’ lists, providing the voters with the ID-cards, preparation of the lists of the people registered in the country, living outside the republic and leaving for other countries to find jobs, were completed on February 21. The plan of measures also covers the deportation of illegal migrants from the country until the voting day and providing of the people reached 18 until March 17 with the ID-cards.
Gozalov said the plan of measures envisaged prevention of illegal mass rallies before and after the election campaign. He added that security measures will be ensured to strengthen the protection of ballot papers before the voting and to deliver the ballot papers from the polling stations to the election constituencies and to the Central Election Commission after the voting.
Moreover, necessary measures will be taken to ensure security of foreign citizens, who will come to the country to observe the referendum.
Gozalov said with the exception of voting, police officers are allowed to come to the polling station only in special uniform and to restore public order under the decision of the referendum commission.
“The police officers will leave the polling station after the public order is restored,” he said.
