In its development, Azerbaijan prefers evolution, not revolution.
Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov said at a joint press conference Nov. 3 with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto, APA reports.
To a Hungarian journalist’s question about Barack Obama mentioning Azerbaijan and Hungary among countries that do not create favorable conditions for NGOs, Elmar Mammadyarov gave the following answer:
“We’re aware of that speech. Azerbaijan thinks evolution would be better than revolution. Azerbaijan has so far sent 5,000 students to different countries. I believe we must advance even further. We’re developing in a successful, prosperous manner. Azerbaijan has taken crucial steps toward democratic development. In this direction, our country is cooperating with international organizations of the West and Europe. Azerbaijan has made history in its development,” he said.
Peter Szijjarto said the accusations about Hungary are groundless.
“Hungarians are of the nations that have gained independence by fighting, with sacrifices. The Hungarian Prime Minister himself has struggled for democracy. Hungarian democracy proved itself. I think the Hungarian people too will not allow anti-democratic steps,” he said.
