Four chicken poultry farms closed in Azerbaijan

Mardakan Broiler, one of the largest poultry farms of Azerbaijan, stopped its activity, chairman of the Mardakan Broiler’s Board of Governors, chairman of the Republican Poultry Farmers Society Aydin Veliyev told APA.

He said Mardakan Broiler produced 2500-3000 tons of chicken in previous years and recent financial problems prevented the company to buy chickenfeed and breeding eggs. The company was forced to stop the activity because lack of investment and it is not useful economically to restore the company’s activity now.

Veliyev said alongside with Mardakan Broiler, Mardakan Poultry, Hovsan Broiler and Goradil Poultry have also stopped their activity. Local producers of Davachi Broiler, Siyazan Broiler, Imishli Broiler and Garagashli Broiler are in good conditions currently.

Veliyev said the local producers bought chickenfeed from abroad and lack of breeding base in the republic increased their expenditures. The producers can’t meet these expenditures to import chickenfeed and breeding eggs. Veliyev said if the local producers were free from the duties for import of chickenfeed and eggs, they could produce 80 000 tons of chicken and one billion 350 million eggs by 2015.
