Netherlands attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan, Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans said on Feb.4 at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart in Baku.
“The current visit to Baku is very important for Netherlands and there are many spheres in which the countries can effectively cooperate,” the minister said.
Azerbaijan’s relations with the EU are also important for Netherlands, as they open a new era in our bilateral relations as well, according to Timmermans.
Additionally, Azerbaijan has been invited to Hague to participate at the Nuclear Security Summit and the country has already agreed to attend the event, according to Timmermans.
“Azerbaijan can make contribution to the nuclear security in the world,” the Dutch foreign minister said.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in turn said that the two countries have good relations.
“Cooperation in the energy sphere became one of the crucial points during the bilateral negotiation between the two countries,” Azerbaijani foreign minister said.
The counteraction to nuclear terrorism and smuggling of nuclear materials will be the key topic of the third Nuclear Security Summit that will be held on March 24-25, 2014 in Hague.
