EUS’ 67th Board Meeting passes in Baku

As earlier reported, the 67th Board Meeting of the European Union Students (EUS) is underway in Baku. The meeting is organized by the ministry of youth and sports of Azerbaijan, the Union of the Youth Student Organizations of Azerbaijan (UYSOA) and the Azerbaijani Students Union (ASU).

 

Opening of the meeting with participation of representatives of government institutions, NGOs, the Azerbaijani and European students took place on December 2.

 

The minister of youth and sport Azad Rahimov who made a speech at opening reported that over 120 representatives from more than 30 countries of Europe participate in the meeting. The minister noted that the youth played great role in success achieved by Azerbaijan for years of independence. Speaking about the attention and care for youth in the country, Azad Rahimov emphasized that the youth policy is one of the priority directions and were accepted appropriate state programs in the country. The minister brought to attention that in Azerbaijan there are functioning a large number of the youth organizations.

 

The Minster emphasized that the youth takes active part in sports life of the country. “Azerbaijan next year will host the first European Games “Baku-2015”. We support the projects put forward by youth. The meeting of the European Union Students is of great importance for the European countries and Azerbaijan from the point of view of consolidation of youth,” he said.

 

Deputy Head of the Department of Socio-Political Issues of the Administration of the President of the Republic Tahir Suleymanov noted that recent years the country is among the most advanced states of the world, within 10 years the Azerbaijani economy promptly grew. He emphasized that success achieved in the field of economy created also opportunity for implementation of various youth projects.

 

The chairperson of the European Students’ Union Elisabeth Gehrke said that the Union cooperates with the Union of the Azerbaijani Students Union since 2012. She noted that this meeting would also allow youth to receive information on Azerbaijan. According to Gherke, the Azerbaijani Students’ Union and the Union of the Youth Student Organizations of Azerbaijan take active part in meetings of the European Students’ Union.

 

Chairman of the Azerbaijani Students’ Union Elvin Aslanov noted the importance of the meeting from the point of view of representation of students from various countries and decision-making.

 

Chairman of the Union of the Youth Student Organizations of Azerbaijan Shahin Ismaylov expressed confidence that the Baku forum will play an important role in exchange of experience, implementation of various projects and adjustment of cooperation in the future.

 

The Azerbaijani Students’ Union is presented in the European Union students since 2009 and the Union of the Youth Student Organizations of Azerbaijan – since 2012.
