“The position of the European Parliament regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is that the occupation by one country of the Eastern Partnership of the territory of another violates the fundamental principles and objectives of the Eastern Partnership,” Philippe Kamaris, head of the Eastern Partnership and Russia Unit Directorate General for External Policies of the European Parliament, has said in a response letter to Sahil Gasimov, the chairman of the Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress (BAC), the BAC told APA.
Kamaris notes in the letter that the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should comply with UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 of 1993 and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group Basic Principles, enshrined in the L’Aquila joint statement of 10 July 2009.
Note that, a protest letter on behalf of the Azerbaijanis living in the Benelux countries (the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg) has been sent to the European Parliament’s leadership as a protest to the resolution on the so-called Armenian genocide signed by the Parliament’s deputies in April.
