The European Union remains the largest economic partner of Azerbaijan, said Malena Mard, head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan.
She made the remarks during the second EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum at ADA University May 18.
She said the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation has been lasting for 25 years.
“This cooperation is growing on a daily basis. Azerbaijan is a country with ancient and rich traditions,” Mard said.
Azerbaijan is carrying out a number of economic reforms, and there are increasing efforts to diversify the country’s economy, the EU ambassador noted.
She went on to say that the EU has a trade share of 44 percent in Azerbaijan, making up the largest portion of direct foreign investment in this country.
The EU stand ready to support the Azerbaijani government’s efforts to carry out reforms, Mard said, stressing that today’s business forum will increase networking and relations between Azerbaijani and European companies and deepen trade and economic relations further.
She expressed hope that such initiatives will continue in the coming years, underlining that the EU is ready to contribute to the development of trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan.
