“During his visit to Azerbaijan, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso will hold discussions on democracy, human rights, and supremacy of law”, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Malena Mard told journalists, APA reports.
Malena Mard said the EC President’s visit aims to continue the bilateral relations and existing agenda more effectively, discuss ways of strengthening and deepening the EU-Azerbaijan relations: “I hope some agreements will be signed for a new legal framework with Azerbaijan. During his visit to Azerbaijan, Barroso will emphasize the importance of the agreement which will also be signed by Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. The European Union and Azerbaijan plan to sign a new agreement to further strengthen bilateral political relations. This agreement will also be discussed during Barroso’s visit. We hope these discussions will come to an end next month”.
Malena Mard noted that Azerbaijan is willing to further strengthen its relations with the EU: “Today, we have closer relations with Azerbaijan. Our trade cooperation has developed. Therefore, we need to create a new legal framework”.
EC President Jose Manuel Barroso will arrive in Azerbaijan tomorrow.
