An international scientific conference “Denominations in the Caucasus” has been held at the “Hallam” Conference Centre in London.
It is organized by The European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) and the Department of Social Sciences of the Azerbaijan National Aviation Academy.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, TEAS director Lionel Zetter stressed the importance of the conference. Zetter said the two-day conference would play an important role in substantiating the role and place of religious denominations in the history of the Caucasus and Azerbaijan in particular. He also hailed ethnic and religious tolerance in Azerbaijan.
Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, David Aison spoke of the role of Anglican Church in the United Kingdom. He highlighted ethnic and religious diversity of London, including the protection of the rights of all religious communities and conditions created for their development.
After the plenary session, the conference continued its work with individual sections. The first was devoted to the history of Zoroastrianism and Judaism. The second session heard reports about the history of the Albanian Apostolic Church and Albanian writings.
