An event dedicated to the New Year and the Day of Solidarity of the World Azerbaijanis has been held at the UNESCO headquarters by Azerbaijani Embassy in France and the country`s Permanent representation to UNESCO.
Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov highlighted the Day of Solidarity of the World Azerbaijanis. He said this holiday was established at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev 23 years ago.
The diplomat said the aim of the Day was to closely unite the Azerbaijanis living in various countries of the world around the country.
He also provided an insight into the development of Azerbaijan, its achievements, successes, adding the country gained its decent place among the leading countries of the world.
Mr. Amirbayov highlighted the strengthening position of Azerbaijan in international arena. He underlined progress achieved in the field of popularization of Azerbaijan`s culture and history in France and stressed the role of compatriots in the relevant issue.
He provided an insight into the cause and consequences of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Head of Permanent representation of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Anar Karimov said national leader Heydar Aliyev initiated compatriots living abroad to consolidate around the idea of Azerbaijanism. He said this initiative played an important role in organizing for the sake of the country and bringing Azerbaijan`s realities to the world community.
The event featured concert on Azerbaijani national music and dances.
