Metro fare increase is in the competence of Tariff Council, the Head of Press Service and the Department of Public Relations of “Baku Metro” Nasimi Pashayev told APA-Economics.
According to him, Baku Metro has not appealed to Tariff Council in this regard.
Under the decision of Tariff Council, sale price of AI-92 gasoline including road tax makes AZN 0.72 for a lt, diesel – AZN 0.62.
According to 2015 state budget, the fare in Baku Metro is AZN 0.20. However, transportation of each passenger is more expensive. Taking into account that mostly low-income part of the population uses the metro, the government pays remaining part of fare. For this purpose, AZN 35 mln has been allocated for Baku Metro.
